Import Data from QuickBooks

To import data from QuickBooks Pro 2002/2006 you must first export your data from QuickBooks.  Each list/table (Customer, Vendor, Employee, Item and Chart of Accounts) must be exported individually.

Start QuickBooks as you normally would:

1.From the File menu click on Open Company/Login and select the correct company to export.

2.Click on Switch to Single-User Mode (if this already says Switch to Multi-User Mode it shows that you are in single user mode).

3.Click on Utilities and then Export.

4.Check the Customer List and click the Ok button.

5.Enter Customer.iif and click the Save button.

6.Repeat steps 2-5 above to export the Vendor List, Employee List, Item List and Chart of Accounts.

7.Save each of these files separately naming them with the appropriate names like Vendor.iif, Employee.iif, Items.iif and Chart of Accounts.iif.

8.Exit QuickBooks.

When you are finished you should have saved 5 files saved in a folder on your hard drive.  You've now exported everything needed to convert a basic system from QuickBooks.

Start VisionCore as you normally would:

1.From the File menu click on New Company to create a new data file or select Open Company to open an existing data file.

2.From the Start menu > Programs > Comtech Solutions > VisionCore > Tool >  and click Import QuickBooks Utility.

or from your VisionCore installation folder, double click on Import Quickbook file to open.

3.On the Welcome page, click the Next button.

4.The Select Destination form will open.  This screen is where you would enter the Database Server Name, the Database Name of the New company you have just created or the Database name of the selected company and an Administrator User ID and password, when Use SQL Server Authentication is selected.

5.Click the Next button.

6.The Choose Source File form will open.  You will notice 5 fields each labeled with the QuickBooks exported lists names.

7.Click the Ellipse button next to the first field to select the Customer.iif file previously exported from QuickBooks.

8.Repeat the above step 6 for the Vendor List, Employee List, Item List and Chart of Accounts.

9.Click the Next button to begin importing the data.  A message box  would come up, indicating the success of data import or any error derived from the import.  Click OK button to bring you to the final page, which will show whether or not the import of the selected table is successful.

10.Click Finish button to close the form.
