Chart of Accounts

In the Chart of Accounts form, you can view all of the accounts that have been setup in your General Ledger.

 

Accounts Tab

This tab will show you the Account ID, Description, Type, Account Group, Currency, Primary and Department. All fields, except Description field, are read-only therefore you are not allowed to modify those. If you want to modify the Description field, you may do so by directly modifying it.  At the top of the grid area there is a filter row that you can use to search for accounts.

 

You will need to set up, or build, your chart of accounts every time you create a new data file. You will need to use the New Company Setup Wizard to to walk you through the process of setting up your Chart of Accounts and New Account Wizard on the process of adding accounts to your Chart of Accounts.

 

Info You cannot change an Account ID for an existing account. You must create a new account in order to change an Account ID and then delete any accounts you no longer want. You will also not be able to delete any existing accounts if there are transactions posted in the General Ledger against it.

 

Groups Tab

This tab will show you a tree-like display of Account Types, Account Groups and Subgroups and Account IDs. This tab has a + or - buttons to expand or collapse Account Types and Account Groups and Subgroups.

 

Toolbar Buttons

Toolbar Buttons perform an action on the current record like adding, deleting or saving.

Bullet PointThe New button will open the New Account Wizard form.

Bullet PointThe Save button will save the changes made.

Bullet PointThe Undo button will cancel out the last change/s done to the record reverting it to its older state.

Bullet PointThe Print button will open Chart of Accounts report. See: What You See is What you Get Printing

Bullet PointThe Structure button will open the Account Structure form where you can view and define a specific account structure.

Bullet PointThe Groups button will open the Account Groups where you can view, add or group your accounts into groups and subgroups.

Bullet PointThe Segments button will open the Segment Accounts form where you can view and setup your primary accounts and segment accounts.

Bullet PointThe Build button will open the Build Accounts form where you can select accounts to preview and/or build.

Bullet PointThe Export button will allow you to export the accounts you are to build or create to an excel file type.

Bullet PointThe Group By button when clicked will give you ability to group your accounts by Account ID, Description, Type, Account Group, Currency, Primary and by Segments. You will also see a 'Drag a column header here to group by that column' caption on top of the column headers. It is on that area where you may drag column/columns.

 

Press F1 or click F1-Help button at the bottom left of the form for help on the form that is currently opened.
